Data Acquisition System

The NSCL Data Acquisition system is a general-purpose nuclear physics data acquisition system in use at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory at Michigan State University.

1) Turn on the crate.

2) Open a terminal on SPDAQ01. sudo /usr/opt/plx/Bin/Plx_load 9054. Enter password.

3) cd readout/crate_1 $DDAS_BIN/nscope

4) File→save. save a set file. Enter the name of that set file in the cfgPixie16.txt. 1 # crate id 1 # number of cards 2 # slot of first card /path/to/my/params.set # path to params

5) $DAQBIN/DDASReadout begin/end/exit

6) Open a second terminal. cd readout/crate_1 $DAQBIN/dumper –count=50 when running Readout.

you'll see

$DAQBIN/dumper –source=tcp:localhost/0400x_ddas_1 –count=50 when running ReadoutShell. you'll see Event 76 bytes long Body Header: Timestamp: 5991399620 SourceID: 0 Barrier Type: 0 004c 0000 80c4 651d 0001 0000 0000 0000 0034 0000 0000 0000 0034 0000 001e 0000 0014 0000 80c4 651d 0001 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 000c 0000 0064 0c0c 4020 0008 267a 23b6 0000 1ad3 2943 0000 7) $DAQBIN/ReadoutShell start/begin/end generate evt file 8) Open a third terminal. cd readout/SpecTcl/ ./Launch_SpecTclspectcl Define the spectrum name. File→Save as a tcl file. Load that tcl file. Data source→file-load evt file. 9) Go to Xamine window. Click display+ and the spectrum. Click expand and type in two channels can zoom in.
