CsI Water Damage Repair:

  1. Remove CsI crystals (56 out of 56) (11/15)
    • Dismantle telescopes
    • Store E, dE detectors
    • Unwrap CsI bundles
  2. Remove as much filter paper as possible from CsI (using ethanol and plastic scraper) (56 out of 56) (11/20)
  3. Document damage (depth on front surface) (56 out of 56)
  4. Detach photodiodes from each crystal (leave light guides on for now) (56 out of 56) (12/19)
  5. Remove remaining filter paper and light guide paint (56 out of 56) (12/19)
  6. Sand sides of each crystal (0 out of 56)
  7. Ship crystals to WashU (2 out of 56) (12/12)
    • I will rent a car and drive them (dates TBD)
  8. Design and assemble lapping setup (design completed) (1/1)
    • Motion control + support
    • Coarse vertical motion
    • CsI holder that attaches to motion control
    • Sandpaper (delivered) (11/18)
    • Craig is busy, but will try to look at it within the next month
  9. Practice lapping with beam blocker (?)
